The BioValley France competitiveness cluster brings together and supports startups, SMEs, large groups, healthcare, and research and training organizations in the French Grand Est area around the health domain.
BioValley France, in partnership with Nathalie Picollet-D’hahan from CEA and Stéphanie Descroix from Institut Curie and Institut Pierre-Gilles de Gennes, produced the first organ-on-chip directory now available in a 100% digital format. In total, 57 dedicated pages bring together researchers from large companies, biotechs & startups, research institutes, hospitals and universities throughout the country. A big step towards promoting the development of personalized medicine!

Structuring the 1st organ-on-chip sector in France
BioValley France began to take an interest in the theme of organs on a chip (OOC) in the spring of 2018. Its first objective, with principals such as large groups, pharmaceutical or dermo-cosmetic, was to identify and define a common need currently little or not offered by the biotechs and more generally by actors in health domain (universities, research institutes, etc.). The objective is to bring about a structuring project that will meet this expressed need.

An initiative driven by both academics and companies
After a first meeting with several large French groups, a significant number of biotechs joined the think tank. It was then completed by numerous public research teams.
Following the various meetings and discussions that have taken place since the first meeting in September 2018, a second objective shared by everyone quickly emerged: “to structure the OoC sector in France”. A dedicated directory, symbolizing the 1st stage of this structuring, was thus created.
